Looney Tunes Vs. Tom and Jerry

Tom and Jerry used to be my favorite cartoon until I watched Looney Tunes. That’s because of the amazing characterization or you can say stereotyping. Each of the Looney Tunes is a character in its own; especially the accent is the highlight. The similarities in each of the individual cartoons, are that it has a victim and a perpetrator. The characters are so human that you actually forget that they are animals. You can actually relate them to people you know. And the best thing about them is that they are so funny.

On the other hand, Tom and Jerry celebrates friendship. That’s all fine but there is not much you can learn from it. It has been much criticized on the violence that is portrays. It pretty much remains the same until, it has the fat lady, the little mouse, or the bird.

But Looney Tunes is on the face. They do not manipulate anything. I mean that they are open about adult concepts like non-vegetarianism, violence, selfishness and so on. They are everything but a fairytale. That is nice cos I think children can learn a lot from that. Whereas Tom and Jerry talks about friendship, which is a bit unreal in today’s world. Backstabbing is the reality, which we all learn later.

The only thing similar about them is that they have two dumb cats, who think they are smart. Out of them my favorite is but obvious, Sylvester. I used to love Tom until I saw Sylvester….
